Who we are
Rewritten Roads is the trading name of Laurie Edouard-Betsy, an independent children's author based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR, we are the data controller for personal data you provide through this website.

Only the site owner can access the secure analytics view of sign-ups and downloads. That view is private, password-protected and role-gated - reachable at /admin by the authorised owner account only.
What we collect
- Contact / enquiry form: name, email, organisation, message, and any details you choose to share about your enquiry (e.g. school visit, bulk order, press, speaking).
- Newsletter: email address (and, where given, first name).
- Resource downloads: name and email address.
- Technical data: basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) used for security and reliability.
Some enquiries are forwarded to WhatsApp / Meta where you have explicitly chosen that channel. Meta will process your data under its own terms.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To respond to your enquiry - legitimate interests / pre-contract steps.
- To send newsletters and resources you requested - consent.
- To deliver books, talks or services you order - contract.
- To meet tax, accounting and other legal duties - legal obligation.
How long we keep it
Enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact. Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. Order and financial records: 6 years, as required by HMRC. Server logs: up to 30 days.
Who we share it with
We use trusted processors to run this site and deliver email: our hosting and database provider, our transactional email provider, and Meta / WhatsApp where you choose that channel. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port and object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Your data & how to opt out
We only hold your details so we can answer your enquiry, send a resource you requested, or - if you opted in - send our newsletter. Your data is stored in our own secure database and is not sold or shared for advertising.
To have your details removed at any time, email info@rewrittenroads.com with the subject line “Delete my data”. We'll remove your record within 30 days and add your address to our suppression list so you won't be contacted again. You can also unsubscribe from any email in one click using the link at the bottom of every message.
